Van Cleef & Arpels - Ecole des Arts Joailliers
The School of Jewellery Arts opened a new space in Dubai in April 2024. Located in the heart of the Design District, the School houses classrooms, an exhibition space and offices.
The dconcept follows the building's contemporary architecture. The exterior extends into the interior, stretching lines into volutes to guide visitors along their journey. At times luminous, the line becomes volume, forming a lintel for signage and acoustics.
To respect the building and fit in organically, the functions are anchored to the architecture. Each protruding element is used as a support, and the design accompanies this rhythm to form islands that punctuate the path. The library is a shelter for books and serenity in the passageway. The coat ritual follows the path, and students are invited to go along. Classrooms are designed for each discipline, with an appropriate chromatic range: green for art history, pink for jewelry, etc.
This fluidity between building and interior design is reinforced by the work on the façade. The graphic design created by gr20 on the windows blurs the lines between transparency and opacity. Privacy is preserved, while at the same time revealing life inside the school, and thus inviting visitors to cross the threshold.
This system also serves as sun protection, as do the microarchitectures located on the forecourt. With their sunshades, they invite you to pause and cool off from the torpor.
