Théâtre des Champs-Élysées

redesign
2025

The wish of Baptiste Charroing, the new General Manager, is to offer spectators a comprehensive experience, in order to reconnect with the original intention of its designers and architects, and to ensure that this legendary venue is also dedicated to sharing moments of conviviality, both before the concert and during the intermission.

The lobby and atrium have been redesigned to showcase the interior architecture and artwork, as well as to welcome the public in a warmer atmosphere. Audiences will be able to discover the new spaces during the season's opening concert on September 10 by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

« The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées is an architectural gem designed by Auguste Perret over a century ago. After decades of loyal service, the reception areas needed to be refreshed and redesigned for today's uses.
From the box office to the bar and waiting areas, the aim was to create a functional and contemporary space that fits in perfectly with the theater's historic surroundings.

From the ticket office to the bar and waiting areas, the aim was to create a functional and contemporary space
that fits in perfectly with the theater's historic surroundings. Organizational work made it possible to streamline
functions and spaces, while clarifying circulation and visually marking reception areas. The overall balance
has been revised, enhancing neglected areas and simplifying others. Alcoves have been created under the stairs,
waiting rooms have been brought back to life, and welcoming seating punctuates the space.

This work was carried out in harmony with Perret's architecture. The lines are extended and revisited, and the new
layouts blend in with the building. The materials blend in with the existing ones, while adding a contemporary touch,
for visual durability. The fabrics synthesize the colors present, to bring a subtle depth. The custom-made tables
are inspired by the volutes of the guardrail.

Paying tribute to the architect's work, this new layout aims to highlight its unique qualities while offering
increased comfort to visitors.»
