Ankara Café

Interior architecture
Institut Français de Turquie, Ankara
2010

Ankara Café is a project imagined for the new French Institute of Turkey in Ankara, in collaboration with Turkish architect Gül Gulven and her office Ven.

In this collaboration, the task of the Studio was to conceive the whole ground floor area, including the welcoming desk, the café-bar and a bookshop. The specifications required to design furniture that would be realized by Ankara craftsmen. With a concern for harmony and to simplify the exchanges, the whole collection has been designed with the same construction using plied metal and wood.

The people’s circulation in this space is complex as it connects separate areas and is a passageway towards classrooms. Thus, the Studio conceived circular shaped furniture forming a constellation that can easily be modified.
