Les Formes savantes

Les Formes Savantes is both an exhibition and a play in ten stages, each of which takes place in a room in the hôtel de Cabrières-Sabatier d’Espeyran. The objects of the XVIIIth and XIXth centuries, permanent residents of the mansion, converse in person with the contemporary creations of Constance Guisset, in a sound and light show. The play was written especially for this occasion by Frédéric Dassas, Adrien Goetz and Cloé Pitiot, then recorded by actors. Broadcasted in a loop in each room, the conversations accompany the visitor throughout the exhibition. Objects exchange, interrogate, sympathize, and make confidences. They talk about their manufacturing techniques, but also about their design and their use over time. By examining the periods and styles, the exhibition gives us a didactic and playful understanding of the stakes of contemporary design.
