Delta 76

Exhibition
Une saison graphique, Le Havre
2016

Delta 76 is an exhibition presenting a profusion of research and experimentation outcomes: a four-hand exploration of flax, in six lamps and four graphic creations. Delta, for two streams of ideas flowing into the same project. 76, for Le Havre and its area, first flax producers in the world. A laboratory where dreamed objects come to life!

Constance Guisset and Agnès Dahan were invited by the city of Le Havre to play with all the possibilities of flax. Worsted, non-woven, needle-punched, unidirectional... A lot of materials to experiment with.

In a setting inspired by the theatrical dimension of the place, the creations of both artists are interacting with each other: Constance Guisset’s lamps echo Agnès Dahan’s graphic proposals. The choice to design lighting or to play with shadows is guided by the desire to enhance the characteristics of the material: light accentuates the subtlety of flax, in all its forms. Each lamp is made in a different material. Both fascinating and mysterious, these extraterrestrial findings are named after meteorites. They are displayed on lunar pedestals and highlighted by a backlight system, giving a spectacular dimension to the whole.

In the center of the exhibition space, sketches, models and weaving are displayThey show the creative process and the tests conducted with all the different materials.

The exhibition takes place from May 21st to June 11th 2016 at Carré du Théâtre de l’Hôtel de Ville in Le Havre (France) during Une Saison Graphique festival. The exhibition is the continuation of a workshop on flax led by Constance Guisset at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris, from September 2015 to January 2016.

With the support of the city of Le Havre, the European Confederation of Linen and Hemp (CELC) and partner companies.
